Graduate Certificate in Statistics

The Graduate Certificate in Statistics is a focused, practical program that builds a solid foundation in statistical concepts and techniques in six months of full-time study.
Grounded in industry needs, the curriculum teaches you to apply advanced statistical methods to real-world problems. You develop the advanced skills and knowledge industry looks for, learning to critically analyse and solve advanced problems in mathematics and statistics, and gaining the tools to visualise data effectively for insightful analysis and impactful communication.
You complete four core courses over the six months, beginning with Calculus for Statisticians, in contemporary, future-focused subjects that build deep knowledge in the statistical sciences.
Alongside the technical content the certificate develops creative and critical thinking and problem-solving, and asks you to apply foundational knowledge to problems in industry and society. Adelaide University positions the mathematical sciences as underpinning modern science, engineering and technology, so the skills transfer across sectors.
The qualification is also a pathway into further study, including a master's degree.
The program is 24 units of core courses, taken full time over half a year across the Adelaide City and Mawson Lakes campuses, with a February intake. A part-time equivalent is available.
