About This Course

Gain a preliminary overview of the skills, knowledge and capabilities required to participate in the contemporary communications environment across industry, government agencies and community organisations. You'll gain practical skills and understanding relevant to a broad range of communications and media roles and advance your capabilities for developing effective communication strategies and projects across digital and traditional formats. The course focuses upon development of your creative, analytic and organisational capacity in the area and provides you with a core set of practical and applicable skills that are vital for succeeding in a range of media and communication roles. General Requirements

A Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA
The equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 50 per cent
English language requirement: Minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0
Where relevant, admission will be awarded to the highest ranked applicants or applicants selected based on the relevant requirements

Can I progress to a higher qualification after completing the Graduate Certificate in Strategic Communication?

Yes. Upon successfully completing the Graduate Certificate in Strategic Communication, you can choose to progress to the Graduate Diploma in Strategic Communication or the Master of Strategic Communication. Depending on your circumstances, this may be subject to achieving a course weighted average mark of 65 per cent. If you enrol in the graduate diploma or master's course, you will receive (subject to conditions) full credit for units completed in your graduate certificate.

Is this course available on a part-time basis?

Yes, the Graduate Certificate in Strategic Communication is available on both a full-time and part-time basis. UWA's postgraduate courses are designed so students can balance work and studies, and include a range of units taught after hours as well as the option to learn via intensive units.
