Graduate Certificate in Student Centred Learning

The Graduate Certificate in Student Centred Learning is a professional development qualification designed by UTS College specifically for practising educators in the pathway sector. It is currently offered only to UTS College's own staff (all Academic Coordinators complete it, and sessional staff complete at least its first subject) rather than external candidates, though the College plans to open it up externally in future. The course equips participants to develop and sustain a student-centred approach to teaching and learning in tertiary education, exploring student-centred pedagogy, curriculum and assessment design, cross-cultural teaching strategies, and the principles of Positive Education to support student motivation, deep learning and wellbeing. It consists of 24 credit points across four subjects: three core subjects (Student Centred Learning and Teaching, Understanding Curriculum and Assessment for Learning, Teaching and Learning Across Cultures) plus one elective (Positive Education or Action Research). Assessment includes reflection portfolios, projects, case studies and presentations. Delivered part-time over 12 months through a combination of online and face-to-face delivery.
