A qualifying course required for applicants who haven't studied taxation at university level before starting the graduate certificate.
Common Questions
Yes. Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Taxation with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65 or above can apply to progress into the Master of Taxation via Internal Program Transfer (IPT) in their final term of study. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be granted for courses completed in the Graduate Certificate, subject to course alignment with the Master's program. Upon progression, students may be eligible for up to an additional 12 Units Of Credit (UOC) of RPL for electives (which is usually the equivalent of two courses), subject to course alignment with the Master's.
For domestic students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee and the indicative full fee to complete the degree are both $21,000. For international students, the 2026 indicative first year fee is $31,000 and the indicative fee to complete the degree is $31,500. Fees are subject to annual review and may vary accordingly.
If you haven't studied taxation at university level before, there's a qualifying course (TABL5901) you'll have to complete before starting the graduate certificate.
The certificate allows you to build knowledge and expertise in tax planning for corporations, trusts, superannuation, capital gains and employee remuneration (income tax). You can also become knowledgeable on the principles of Australian international taxation and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) law. Graduates are eligible for roles such as Senior Tax Manager, Senior Tax Accountant, Tax Consultant, and Chartered Accountant.
The Graduate Certificate in Taxation is delivered via a combination of face-to-face (including blended) and online classes, and is available at the Kensington campus. The program has a duration of 0.7 years and commences in Term 1, Term 2, and Term 3. The combination of online and face-to-face classes can adapt to your work/life balance.
