The Graduate Certificate in Urban Design offers a foundation in historical and theoretical dimensions of urbanism and design, expanding your understanding and design skills at both suburban and metropolitan levels. It trains you to analyse contexts, define principles, and provide guidance for designers and architects of buildings, landscape, and the public domain.
The closing date for Semester 1 is 31 January of the commencing year, and the closing date for Semester 2 is 15 July of the commencing year. Separate deadlines apply for scholarship applications.
The Graduate Certificate provides a foundation for the more intensive theoretical and practical work undertaken in the Graduate Diploma, making it a stepping stone for students wishing to progress further in urban design studies.
In this program, you will develop the ability to analyse contexts, define principles, and provide guidance for designers and architects of buildings, landscape, and the public domain. You will also be trained to refine and focus your skills in spatial thinking and visual communication.
You can submit an application through the University of Sydney's online portal. Ensure you apply before the relevant closing date — 31 January for Semester 1 or 15 July for Semester 2 — and note that separate deadlines apply if you are also applying for scholarships.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
