You will complete four units of study totalling 24 credit points, including 12 credit points of core units of study (two units chosen from the core options).
The core units of study available are: Structure and Function of Language (LNGS7505), Language, Society and Power (LNGS7002), Discourse and Communication (LNGS7506), and Cross Cultural Communication (LNGS7006). Students must complete two of these core units.
The closing date for Semester 1 entry is 31 January of the commencing year, and the closing date for Semester 2 entry is 15 July of the commencing year. Separate deadlines apply for scholarship applications.
The program covers linguistics and cross-cultural communication, including the forms and functions of spoken and written language, how language connects with visual contexts such as gesture, image, film and sound, and digital platforms, as well as the connections between language, culture and society.
You can submit an application through the University of Sydney's application portal. Applications open for both domestic and international students, with Semester 1 closing on 31 January and Semester 2 closing on 15 July of the commencing year.
