Yes. The GradCertEd is a nested qualification within the Sheridan Master of Education (MEd). GradCertEd graduates who are subsequently accepted into the MEd program will receive full credit towards their MEd course.
No. This course will not enable graduates to register as a qualified teacher in a school or educational facility. However, it does contribute to further professional learning requirements for teachers to maintain their teacher registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).
The Graduate Certificate of Education comprises 4 units of study worth 3 credit points each, for a total of 12 credit points. Students must complete 1 core unit (ED550 Worldview Foundations of Education) and 3 elective units chosen from the available list. The program is available part-time only and can be completed in two academic terms or longer part-time, with intakes in February and July.
Assessments typically consist of a combination of case studies, essays, presentations, quizzes, project plans, literature reviews, and/or reports. There are no examinations in the GradCertEd program.
