Yes. The course can be used as an entry point into the Master of Arts (Writing and Literature) and includes two core units from the Masters' program. It is also an approved pathway into the Graduate Diploma of Writing and Literature.
The estimated tuition fee for a full-fee paying place is $13,900, while a Commonwealth Supported Place (HECS) is estimated at $6,583. The estimated tuition fee is provided as a guide only and represents the typical tuition fees for students completing this course within the same year they started. HELP loans including FEE-HELP or HECS-HELP may be available depending on your eligibility.
The course is available online and at Burwood (Melbourne). It is offered in Trimester 1 (starting March) and Trimester 2 (starting July). Note that the next available Burwood (Melbourne) intake will be for 2027; online study is available in both trimesters.
To be considered for admission, you will need either completion of a bachelor degree or higher, or at least two years' relevant work experience (or part-time equivalent), such as experience as an editor, publisher, or author. You must also meet English language proficiency requirements, which include an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (with no band score less than 6.0) or equivalent, or a bachelor degree from a recognised English-speaking country.
To complete the course, you must pass 4 credit points: 1 compulsory core unit (Foundations in Writing and Literature), 1 credit point from writing course elective units, 1 credit point from literature course elective units, and 1 credit point from elective units chosen from units within the specialisations of the Master of Arts (Writing and Literature), Master of Communication, or the core or electives of the Master of Creative Arts. You must also complete the 0-credit-point Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin module in your first study period.
