About This Course

The Graduate Diploma of Agribusiness is designed to produce graduates who can make a positive contribution to society in agribusiness as effective communicators, innovators, and thought leaders. The course will challenge students to analyse, critically evaluate, and communicate advanced and technical knowledge of established agribusiness theories in a range of real-world scenarios. Graduates will be able to demonstrate the autonomy, expert judgement, adaptability, and responsibility required of successful agribusiness leaders in an ever-changing and complex world. The course draws on Leaders Institute's established expertise in agribusiness. The structure of this course is based on the first year of our Master of Agricultural Information Management or Master of Business Administration (Agribusiness), allowing graduates to fast-track into the final year of the either Masters course. It also enables students to exit the higher-level course, due to unforeseen personal or professional reasons, after the first year with a fully accredited qualification.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Domestic Students:

Completion of an AQF Level 7 or above higher education qualification (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant business field.
OR Completion of an AQF Level 7 or above higher education qualification (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant business field AND a minimum two years of professional experience in a managerial position.

International Students:

Completion of an AQF Level 7 or above higher education qualification (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant business field.
OR Completion of an AQF Level 7 or above higher education qualification (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant business field AND a minimum two years of professional experience in a managerial position.
International students whose qualifications were obtained in an institution where English is not the language of instruction normally require an International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) of 6.5, with a score of not less than 6.0 in any of the four skill areas, or equivalent.
International students must hold a valid student visa.

Relevant Work Experience Documentation Required:

Certified copies of relevant qualifications or micro-credentials completed, if relevant.
A current CV demonstrating relevant work experience, including managerial or leadership experience of people or projects.
Two current, signed references that are work related.
Statement of Intent outlining the motivation to study, previous education, employment history; and how this course can assist in career aspiration or progression.

Alternative Admission Arrangements:

Alternative admission pathways are also open for educationally disadvantaged applicants and for First Nations Peoples applicants.
These applicants will be assessed on a case-by-case basis with RPL, professional accreditations, and the provision of a portfolio of work for entry to micro-credential and single units.
Applicants seeking alternative entry must also fulfil the English language entry requirements.

Graduates of the Graduate Diploma of Agribusiness may find employment in agribusiness leadership and management roles in a relevant occupational field, such as: agribusiness management; sales and marketing entrepreneurial start-ups; and not-for-profit organisations; as well as educational institutions that require skills in research and critical thinking. Additionally, graduates may choose to return to studies and progress along the pathway toward further studies in the discipline area of agribusiness.

Can I use this diploma to progress into a Masters degree?

Yes. The structure of the Graduate Diploma of Agribusiness is based on the first year of the Master of Agricultural Information Management or Master of Business Administration (Agribusiness), allowing graduates to fast-track into the final year of either Masters course.

What are the tuition fees for international students?

For international students, the tuition fee is AUD $3,125 per unit, with total course fees of AUD $25,000. A non-refundable deposit of AUD $500 applies, and AUD $12,500 is required to be paid up front prior to the issue of a Confirmation of Enrolment.

What are the tuition fees for domestic students?

For domestic students, the tuition fee is AUD $2,500 per unit, with total course fees of AUD $20,000. A one-time non-refundable application fee of AUD $500 applies, and AUD $10,000 is required to be paid up front.

Is credit or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) available?

Yes. Credit for previous learning may be obtained through the process of articulation, credit transfer, and RPL or a combination of these processes. Students who wish to apply for RPL must provide evidence in terms of completed qualifications along with other relevant documentation.

What electives are required and at what level?

In Year 1, Semester 1, students are required to complete 1 elective at 400 level or above, in addition to the three core units. In Semester 2, students complete 2 electives at 500 level or above, alongside the two core units AP501 and IM401.
