Graduate Diploma in Aviation

The Graduate Diploma in Aviation is a technical flight training program delivered with Flight Training Adelaide at Parafield Airport, adjacent to the Mawson Lakes Campus. Applications are invitation only, for students currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Aviation majoring in Pilot.
The diploma gives you the skills, knowledge and competencies to test for a Commercial Pilot Licence and a Multi-engine Command Instrument Rating — professional qualifications recognised by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
You complete seven courses. Introductory and advanced flying covers the core principles of flight including pre-flight and post-flight procedures, basic in-flight manoeuvres and aircraft operation, then progresses to the competencies required to be recommended for the Recreational Pilot Licence flight test. Aircraft navigation teaches cross-country flying under visual flight rules with professionalism and accuracy, building to the cross-country flying and aircraft handling needed to pass the Commercial Pilot Licence flight test. Night flying and instrument flying complete the sequence.
You also complete ground simulator lessons, are mentored by experienced flight instructors, submit detailed flight plans, and work with current aerodrome alerts and weather forecasts. There is an option to obtain a Recreational Pilot Licence, and an opportunity to join the Qantas Group Aviation Career Enrichment Program.
The university describes this as an intensive study commitment. The program is 48 units of core courses, taken full time over one year.
