About This Course

Curtin's Graduate Diploma in Business will give you the breadth of skills and knowledge critical to business operations and leadership. You'll learn the relevance of economic theory, factors to consider in financial decision-making, the theory and practice of strategic decision-making, and about leading people. This qualification is relevant for managers at all levels (emerging through to middle/senior levels) who want to extend their business knowledge and may have an undergraduate degree in a non-business area. After completing the four units of the graduate diploma, you may choose to exit or pause your business studies or complete the additional four units required to gain your Master of Business Administration (MBA).

General Requirements

There are two pathways into the Graduate Diploma in Business – one for applicants with an undergraduate degree and one for those without an undergraduate degree.
Applicants with an undergraduate degree will be required to demonstrate two (2) years of relevant work experience.
Applicants without an undergraduate degree will have three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience and will be asked to meet the English language proficiency requirements for this course.
English language requirement: IELTS Academic – Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0, Reading 6.0, Listening 6.0, Overall band score 6.5.
The personal statement written and provided by applicants will be used as an assessment to meet the English language requirement for the course.
All applicants will need to submit a copy of their CV/resume highlighting prior work experience and roles that they have held.
Strongly recommend: Two Referee recommendations, Personal Statement, and CV/resume clearly showing your prior work experience and roles that you have held.
An employer recommendation form and a referee report must be included with your application.

Can I use the Graduate Diploma in Business as a pathway to a Curtin MBA?

Yes. After completing the four units of the Graduate Diploma in Business, you need only complete a further four units to achieve a Curtin Master of Business Administration (MBA).

How long does it take to complete the Graduate Diploma in Business?

You can complete the Graduate Diploma in Business in just three trimesters (about 12 months) studying full-time, or equivalent part-time. The course is 200 credits in total.

Can I study the Graduate Diploma in Business fully online?

Depending on unit selection, this course can be studied fully online. However, international students on student visas are not permitted to study fully online. You can choose to study on-campus (evenings or block teaching), online or a mix of both.

What are the fees for the Graduate Diploma in Business?

The domestic fee-paying postgraduate fee for 2026 is $37,484 (indicative, based on a first-year full-time study load of 200 credits). The total cost will depend on your course options, including units selected and time taken to complete. Domestic fee-paying students may be eligible for FEE-HELP assistance.

What if I don't yet meet the admission criteria for the Graduate Diploma in Business?

If you don't yet meet the admission criteria for the Graduate Diploma in Business, you can complete the Graduate Certificate in Business or Graduate Certificate in Business Futures as a stepping stone. This pathway won't take you any longer, as completing the units in those graduate certificates will provide course credits towards your Graduate Diploma.
