Graduate Diploma in Chinese Medicine (exit only)

This is an exit program only. Applicants apply to 4716 - Master of Chinese Medicine and exit with the Graduate Diploma in Chinese Medicine. Offered as a Grad Certificate/Grad Diploma qualification of 80 credit points, it is normally completed in 1 year full-time. Students do not apply for this award directly: admission is to the parent program, and the qualification is conferred on those who leave that program early having completed the required credit points. It is administered within Western Sydney University's Health Sciences academic area. Subjects include Introduction to Epidemiology, Introduction to Biostatistics, Clinical Application of Classical Chinese Herbal Medicine, Evidence Based Practice in Chinese Medicine and Clinical Applications of Classical Acupuncture. Graduates are expected to be able to demonstrate advanced theoretical and clinical knowledge of classical literature and its clinical relevance on pathological conditions in terms of Chinese Medicine; practise ethically and professionally with an advanced understanding of the multidisciplinary nature of healthcare and the appropriateness of intra- and inter-professional referrals; and communicate and negotiate effectively and ethically with health professionals, clients and non-specialist stakeholders via a range of media and formats.
