UNE's Graduate Diploma of Data Science will expand your skills so you can solve complex and challenging problems, innovate and gain competitive advantages by building intelligent systems and bringing structure to large and diverse data sets. If you have a bachelor degree in an area other than data science, statistics or computing, our course will equip you with the in-depth technical skills to future proof your career in this booming profession. Whether you already work with data and want to upskill, or you have a different background and wish to change direction our graduate diploma will provide you with the required knowledge and practical skills to analyse and manage data and to solve complex and challenging problems. Our course will also enable you to pursue a range of data science careers or continue to further studies.

You can apply for this course if you have completed a Bachelor qualification (AQF Level 7 or overseas equivalent) in any discipline.
English Language Requirements must also be met.
Applicants may satisfy English Language Requirements by: being a native English speaker; having completed study at senior secondary level or above in English; having a pass grade or better in an Australian Year 12 English language subject or equivalent; having taken an IELTS test; having taken a TOEFL test; having taken a Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic; having completed an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program; having satisfactory completion of an approved English communications skills program; or having a current registration with an accrediting body.
You must meet the Inherent Requirements in order to complete this course.
All admissions are subject to UNE's Admission, Credit and Enrolment Policy.
Supporting documents required: a certified academic transcript of your completed qualification; proof of identity and citizenship (e.g. certified/notarised copy of passport photo page); evidence of English Language Requirements satisfied (if applicable).

Estimated fees for a typical full-time year of study (48 credit points) are: Commonwealth Supported Place (quotas apply) – $8,113; Full Fee (no government subsidy) – $24,384; International – $35,808. An estimated amenities fee of $373 per year also applies for full-time students. Costs depend on the units you choose as individual unit fees vary.

Can I study this course online or do I need to attend campus?

The course is available both online and on campus. Online study is available across all three trimesters (February, June, and October). On-campus study at the Armidale Campus is available in Trimester 1 (February) and Trimester 2 (June). Most students choose to study online with 24/7 tutor support and fit study around work and family commitments.

What programming languages and technologies will I work with in this course?

You will work with industry-leading programming languages such as R, Python and Matlab, and gain in-depth knowledge and skills in developing sophisticated data systems such as databases, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
