Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies (Secondary) (exit only)

The Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies (Secondary) is an exit point on completion of 80 credit points of study (excluding Professional Practice subjects) selected from the 1714 - Master of Teaching (Secondary) subjects. Offered as a Grad Certificate/Grad Diploma qualification of 80 credit points, it is normally completed in 1 year full-time and 2 years part-time. Students do not apply for this award directly: admission is to the parent program, and the qualification is conferred on those who leave that program early having completed the required credit points. It is administered within Western Sydney University's Education academic area. Subjects include HSIE Curriculum 2, Music Curriculum 1, Technology Curriculum 2, PDHPE Curriculum 1 and Aboriginal & Culturally Responsive Pedagogies. Graduates are expected to be able to critically reflect on practice and appropriate pedagogies and technologies that enhance the learning development of students’ diverse needs, including social, cultural, academic, emotional and physical needs; apply knowledge and skills that are appropriate and evidence-based to create positive learning environments, mindful of students’ well-being and learning outcomes; and critically analyse and communicate understandings from existing research that contribute to professional practice and scholarship.
