No, the Graduate Diploma in Foundational Data Science is specifically designed as an ideal starting point for those who don't have a background in computer science or statistics.
Yes, when you successfully complete the Graduate Diploma, you can enrol in the Master of Data Science (subject to meeting the requirements). You'll receive course credit, meaning you can complete both the Graduate Diploma and the Master of Data Science in just 2.5 years.
The indicative first year fee for 2026 is AUD $44,992. Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are not available for this course.
From January 2025, the course was renamed to Graduate Diploma in Foundational Data Science. All students who commenced the program in 2025 entered under the new course name.
Through this course you'll develop fundamental skills in both computer science and statistics. You'll be shown how to use statistical tools, techniques and methods along with in-depth analysis and evaluation, learning to solve real-world problems in the data realm.
