Graduate Diploma in Health Support (exit only)

This is an early exit program only. Applicants apply to Master of Nursing Practice (Preregistration) and exit with the Graduate Diploma in Health Support award. Offered as a Grad Certificate/Grad Diploma qualification of 80 credit points, it is normally completed in 1 year full-time and 2 years part-time. Students do not apply for this award directly: admission is to the parent program, and the qualification is conferred on those who leave that program early having completed the required credit points. It is administered within Western Sydney University's Nursing and Midwifery academic area. Subjects include Nursing Practice 2, Evidence Based Health Care, Pharmacology Knowledge for Nursing Practice, Mental Health Nursing Practice and Palliative and End of Life Care. Graduates are expected to be able to employ the principles of person-centred care with reference to respect, emotional support, physical comfort, care coordination and access to care; differentiate factors that affect, or potentially affect, the health and wellbeing of people and populations to diverse audience; and demonstrate accountability for actions to ensure safe and responsible nursing practice within relevant legal, ethical, and professional frameworks.
