Yes, according to Western Sydney University, it is the only degree of its kind in Australia, responding to the need for qualified workers in disaster relief and development, in government and non-government agencies involved in humanitarian operations and development practice.
There are three upcoming intake dates available: 20 July 2026 (Spring 2026), 01 March 2027 (Autumn 2027), and 19 July 2027 (Spring 2027).
The program takes 1 year full time, and is also available part time. Note that part-time study is not available to international students on a Student Visa.
Graduates can pursue a broad range of careers including Humanitarian Relief Aid, Development Programming, Project Managing, Disaster Relief Work, and Policy Development, working in government and non-government agencies involved in humanitarian operations and development practice.
The Graduate Diploma in Humanitarian and Development Studies is delivered at the Parramatta City campus, with an indicative annual fee from $11,885 for domestic students. The program also includes online and on campus learning components.
