Common Questions
The Graduate Diploma in International Community Development is the second stage of a three-course nested graduate program. Completing the Graduate Certificate in International Community Development earns you credit towards the diploma, and successful completion of the diploma then leads into the Master of International Community Development — with credit points already accumulated, you'll be halfway to completing the full masters degree.
To complete the Graduate Diploma in International Community Development, students must complete 96 credit points in total: 72 credit points of Core Studies (six core units) and 24 credit points of Elective Studies (two elective units chosen from the available electives).
Yes. VU has partnerships with educational, business and community organisations including agreements with other universities and NGOs such as the National University of Timor Leste (UNTL). Students studying international development at VU have completed placements in countries including Timor Leste, Fiji, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Kenya, and Botswana. A Study Tour is also available as an elective unit.
The Graduate Diploma in International Community Development is a full-fee course (not government subsidised), with indicative fees of AU$27,000 per year for a full-time student. In addition to tuition fees, students will also need to pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). Scholarships are available to help support eligible students.
Yes. If you have completed study with another university or institution, you may be eligible to receive credit (advanced standing) for skills and past study, reducing the time it takes to complete the course. VU provides a credit calculator to help determine eligibility. Credits relating to prior VU subjects are automatically granted. Work experience may also be considered — applicants with a minimum of three years of approved work experience will be considered for admission.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
