The program covers three categories: Core units introducing key theories, concepts, and institutions in international relations, and history of the international system; Selective units offering a choice of study in a range of specialist areas; and optional Elective units providing choice of study in related disciplines.
The closing date for Semester 1 entry is 31 January of the commencing year, and for Semester 2 entry it is 15 July of the commencing year. Separate deadlines apply for scholarship applications.
You can submit an application through the University of Sydney's online application portal. Applications are accepted for both Semester 1 and Semester 2 commencement.
The course page allows you to set preferences indicating whether you are a domestic student (Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian Permanent resident visa holder, Australian Permanent humanitarian visa holder, or Pacific Engagement Visa holder) or an international student (those who are not Australian or New Zealand citizens or permanent residents, or do not hold a Pacific Engagement Visa), suggesting the course is available to both domestic and international applicants.
Current students are directed to refer to the latest Arts and Social Sciences faculty handbook for up-to-date information on units of study.
