Common Questions
Yes, UTS offers Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which acknowledges skills and knowledge gained through prior formal qualifications and informal learning. If you receive an offer of enrolment and have undertaken previous studies or have significant relevant employment experience, you may be eligible to apply for RPL.
Domestic students should submit their RPL application after receiving a course offer and before initial enrolment. For late UAC offers, applications should be submitted at enrolment or as soon as possible, but no later than one week after the start of the teaching session. International students should apply for RPL when applying for the UTS course to ensure processing before their letter of offer is issued.
You will be notified of your RPL outcome via your UTS webmail account within four to six weeks of submitting your application. All RPL decisions are final as per the Admissions and RPL Policy, though you can submit a complaint to the Student Complaints Resolution Office or seek review from the Student Ombudsman if dissatisfied.
RPL may be granted as either specified credit (subject exemption), where prior learning is equivalent to a specific UTS subject, or unspecified credit (unspecified elective/general advanced standing), where prior learning counts towards an elective component but is not equivalent to a specific UTS subject. Alternatively, subject substitution may be offered where an alternative subject of equivalent credit point value is added to your study plan.
You must provide certified official academic records and qualifications sighted as true copies by authorised offices such as the UTS Student Centre, a Justice of the Peace, or an Australian Overseas Diplomatic Mission. Additional supporting evidence such as subject outlines, comparison tables, or portfolios is also required. Non-English documents must be officially translated and submitted with certified copies.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
