Graduate Diploma in Midwifery

The Graduate Diploma in Midwifery advances the professional practice and knowledge of working midwives, building critical thinking, analysis, innovation, leadership and research skills alongside advanced specialised knowledge.
You learn to apply established theories to practice, furthering your expert judgement and adaptability as a midwife, and position yourself for leadership or management roles.
The diploma is built entirely from electives, so you tailor it to your professional goals. Speciality areas include pharmacology, critical care, perinatal mental health and Aboriginal health.
Cutting-edge technology, tools and techniques in the midwifery field are covered throughout, with insight into the advances shaping the profession.
Study is flexible — full time or part time, on campus or online — so it fits around clinical work, and the qualification builds toward improving practice for women and infants.
The program is 48 units of electives, taken over one year on campus at Adelaide City or online, with February and July intakes.
