Common Questions
You'll meet the knowledge requirements for registration as a migration agent with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA) once you have completed your Graduate Diploma in Migration Law from VU and the prescribed external capstone exam. You must also meet some other requirements, including English language proficiency.
If you're a domestic student or you're not on a student visa while studying at VU, you can choose to study this course online. You can choose between weekday evening classes, entirely online (Online Real Time; ORT), or weekend learning, with a combination of online (Online Real Time; ORT) classes and in-person classes in Melbourne and Sydney.
This course is a full-fee course, meaning it is not government subsidised and you will pay the total cost of each unit. The indicative fees for a full-time student are AU$28,500 per year. In addition to your tuition fees you will need to pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
To be considered for this postgraduate course, you will need to have completed an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in any discipline. Meeting the minimum admission criteria does not guarantee entry into this course, and past academic performance may be considered.
As part of your course, you'll take part in mock client interviews, helping you to learn the kind of questions you will be asked and the kind of responses you will be required to give as a migration agent once you're fully qualified. You may also choose to complete an optional two-week placement program with migration agencies. You will learn from expert teaching staff who have taught migration law at Victoria University for over 35 years and are leading legal practitioners in this field.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
