About This Course

The Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) is a course for students holding an undergraduate degree or graduate certificate in either OH&S or Occupational Hygiene. This degree was developed with industry to address the complex nature of occupational health and safety in the workplace. During the graduate diploma you will study advanced WHS risk management, applied human factors and ergonomics, industrial epidemiology and toxicology, occupational health and safety theories and systems, work health and safety law, and workplace hazards and hygiene. Fee subsidised places available The Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety has a flexible delivery mode combining online course content with three to five days of on campus block teaching sessions focused on the exploration and application of the subject material. The on campus component utilises a range of campus resources, including UOW’s well-resourced OHS laboratory. For students wishing to study further, this graduate diploma also provides a pathway to the Master of Occupational Health and Safety. All subjects successfully completed are credited towards the master level degree.

General Requirements

Domestic Students

A recognised three-year bachelor’s degree, OR Either a Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or a Graduate Certificate in Occupational Hygiene with a WAM of at least 65.
Applicants with other relevant qualifications and/or work experience may be considered.

Work and life experience:

Admission to UOW is primarily based on your academic qualifications, with work or life experience generally not considered. If you do not meet the academic requirements for this course, we recommend exploring recognized pathway programs, such as those offered by UOW College or the TAFE Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC).

UOW recognises a range of overseas higher education qualifications. Your qualifications will be assessed for equivalence to Australian qualifications and the admission requirements for this course. Documents issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by an official English translation.

All UOW courses are taught in English and require varying levels of proficiency. If English is not your first language, you must meet the University’s English Language Requirements, which differ by course.
Accepted international test results include IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, Cambridge, and OET for specific health-related courses.
Alternatively, you can fulfill the requirement by completing an English course at UOW College.
