Common Questions
You will study how the media can help to resolve conflict, the challenges of transforming conflict and building peace and reconciliation after mass violence, and the role of human rights and the United Nations in maintaining international peace and security. The course focuses on developing both theoretical understanding and practical skills applicable to the field of peace and conflict studies.
You will complete 3 core units, 3 selective units in the Peace and Conflict stream, and 2 elective units. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a Model UN and other experiential learning activities as part of the coursework program.
The program features Associate Professor Jake Lynch, a world-renowned peace journalist, novelist and former BBC World News presenter; Dr Wendy Lambourne, a leading trauma and transitional justice scholar; and Dr Eyal Mayroz, a genocide studies scholar focusing on human rights and the United Nations.
Applications close on 31 January of the commencing year for Semester 1 intake and 15 July of the commencing year for Semester 2 intake. Separate deadlines apply for scholarship applications.
