No. The Graduate Diploma in Teaching is currently being redesigned and is not available to new students. Prospective students are encouraged to submit an expression of interest to be notified when the course becomes available again.
Students new to teaching are recommended to start from the Graduate Certificate level. Those who are already teaching can typically gain Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for earlier subjects and may benefit more from studying at the Graduate Diploma level.
Yes. All TESOL and Applied Linguistics courses at UTS include supervised professional practice placements in schools or colleges, which the university helps students locate through its strong industry networks.
Students can choose one of three specialist streams: the Adult Literacy and Numeracy stream, the EAL/D and Literacy in Schools stream, or the English for Academic Purposes stream. Each stream consists of 12 credit points of specialist subjects.
The program adopts a contemporary 3M/3C approach, promoting Multilingual, Multicultural and Multimodal affordances for student learning within a Critically Constructed Curriculum, where aspects of the content and learning processes are collaboratively developed with students.
