You will gain a foundation in historical and theoretical dimensions of urbanism and design, expanding your understanding and design skills at both suburban and metropolitan levels. The program develops your ability to analyse contexts, define principles, and provide guidance for designers and architects of buildings, landscape, and the public domain, while refining your skills in spatial thinking and visual communication.
The Graduate Diploma provides a foundation for the more intensive theoretical and practical work undertaken in the Master of Urban Design, making it a potential stepping stone for students who wish to progress to the master's level program.
Applications close on 31 January of the commencing year for Semester 1 intake, and 15 July of the commencing year for Semester 2 intake. Separate deadlines apply for scholarship applications.
The program is offered through the Architecture, Design and Planning School at the University of Sydney, and current students are referred to the latest faculty handbook for detailed course information.
You can submit an application through the University of Sydney's online application portal. The course code is GNURBDES4000, and you should check the relevant closing dates for your intended semester of commencement.
