To achieve the qualification, candidates must complete eight elective units, consisting of at least six units from the listed electives including at least one unit from Group A (Advanced research in Christian Ministry and Theology), at least two units from Group B (Scripture and Theology), and at least two units from Group C (Ministry and Formation). Up to two units may be selected from any endorsed Training Package or accredited course, provided they are relevant to the work outcome.
Entrants must hold the Advanced Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology OR hold a higher education qualification (e.g. Bachelor Degree) with relevant vocational experience in Christian ministry and theology. It is also recommended that entrants have language, literacy and numeracy skills at ACSF level two in numeracy, four in reading and writing, and five in learning and oral communication.
For local students, the course is delivered through online lectures and live online sessions. For international students, the course is delivered through face-to-face lectures and live online sessions. The course is offered across campuses in Sydney (Rydalmere NSW), Brisbane (Runcorn QLD), and Melbourne (Wantirna VIC).
Successful completion of the course requires learners to engage in unsupervised experience including: undertaking work experience in Christian ministry, private study, completing research and assessment tasks, participating in a religious community (worship, small groups, pastoral care, outreach and community service), and undertaking personal formation activities such as devotion, prayer, personal retreat and reflection. On average, these unsupervised activities equate to 600 hours.
Graduates of this qualification may be eligible to enter a range of other higher qualifications offered by RTOs and higher education providers. The qualification also contains units from the Public Sector, Business Services, and Community Services training packages, which provide pathways into relevant VET qualifications. Additionally, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for any unit of competency successfully completed if the full qualification is not completed.
