About This Course

The Graduate Diploma of Cybersecurity is a postgraduate qualification from Torrens University Australia, built on extensive industry consultation to take a preventative approach to cybersecurity. The course develops a human-centred approach alongside technical proficiencies, covering software and network security, the development of innovative cybersecurity solutions, and the application of emerging AI technologies in an Industry 4.0 society. Graduates emerge with a unique blend of skills that extends beyond conventional cybersecurity practice, prepared to proactively protect organisations from cyber attacks. Co-developed with industry-leading ICT practitioners and academics, the course is structured to meet the Australian Computer Society's Core Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and Cybersecurity Body of Knowledge (CyBOK). Learning outcomes include analysing cybersecurity solutions and their business impact, appraising cybersecurity requirements to protect digital businesses, selecting appropriate contemporary tools and methodologies, developing agile solutions to defend against breaches, and presenting cybersecurity solutions to diverse, global audiences.

Students are eligible for complimentary membership with the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) and the Australian Computer Society (ACS). The course is delivered on campus over 1 year full time (2 years part time), across the Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide campuses, with an intake in September 2026.

Entry Requirements

General Requirements

Domestic students — Admission criteria:

Completion of a qualification at AQF Level 7 (Bachelor degree) or above in Information Technology, Business Information Systems or relevant disciplines
Work life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level, which may include approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment

Check the domestic course fee schedule for the cost of your course. Eligible Australian students may choose to defer some, or all, of their tuition fees through FEE-HELP. Technology, Industry and Alumni scholarships are available.

International students — Admission criteria:

Completion of a qualification at AQF Level 7 (Bachelor degree) or above in Information Technology, Business Information Systems or relevant disciplines
Academic IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent
Alternative entry requirements may be available, which may include assessment and approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment

Check the international course fee schedule for the cost of your course. Onshore international students requiring a student visa should choose campus-based / blended options. Course fees can be paid across three study periods, with each instalment due before the beginning of the academic stage census date. A range of financial scholarships is available to support international students.

If you have already completed a qualification or gained skills through life or work experience, you may be able to credit this against your degree through Recognition of Prior Learning or Course Credit transfer, with further study pathway options also available.
