Yes, the Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education (GDipECE) is on the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) list of approved early childhood teaching (ECT) qualifications.
Successful completion of the course requires students to successfully undertake 60 days of professional experience in early childhood settings. Professional experience is embedded within two units: ECE501 (30 days across birth to 2 year old and 3 to 5 year old settings) and ECE508 (30 days across 3-5 year old and 4 year old to kindergarten settings).
The total course fee is $28,000 AUD for both domestic and international students, structured as $3,500 per unit, $14,000 per semester (4 units), and $28,000 for the full course across 8 units and 2 semesters. All fees are in Australian Dollars.
The course consists of 8 core units with each unit carrying a 10 credit point weighting. Students must pass all 8 units to successfully complete the Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education.
Most units in the course have no prerequisites. The only unit with a prerequisite is ECE508 Professionalism and Leadership in Early Childhood, which requires students to have completed ECE501 Early Childhood Curriculum, Pedagogy and Practice first.
