Applicants must have successfully completed either a Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, or a graded Australian Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or recognised ungraded equivalent) along with a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience (undertaken within the last 7 years) in an early childhood education setting with related leadership responsibilities.
The course takes 1 year to complete full-time, or an equivalent duration if studied part-time. It is offered at the Hawthorn campus with multiple intakes per year.
You must satisfy one of the following English language requirements: an IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0, or Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with an overall score of 70% and all skills at 65% or above, or equivalent measures as outlined on the English language requirements page.
Yes. Credit transfer is available in recognition of previous study and/or experience, allowing students to gain advanced standing towards their course. Additionally, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows students to gain credit for skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Yes, all enrolled students must maintain a current Working with Children Check from the appropriate State Authority as a condition of enrolment in the Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching.
