Common Questions
The course runs for 52 weeks in total, comprising 40 academic weeks and 12 weeks of holidays, spread across four terms of 10 academic weeks each.
Learners must complete all 20 units of competency, which are all elective units, to complete the RII50520 Diploma of Civil Construction Design.
Entry requirements include a Higher School Certificate or equivalent; a vocational qualification from the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package at AQF level 4 or other relevant qualification at AQF 4 or higher; or employment experience in a relevant position such as Civil Construction Design Assistant. International students have additional entry requirements specified in the course brochure.
Students are expected to attend 20 scheduled contact hours per week for 40 weeks. Additionally, students are expected to spend at least 10 hours of individual study per week on research, learning activities and assessment activities utilising the facilities and resources available at YES College.
On completion of this course, graduates may enrol in RII60520 Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design or other AQF level 6 qualifications, or seek employment as a Civil Construction Designer and Civil Engineer Draftsperson, including positions such as senior civil works designer or a para-professional designer who supports professional engineers.
