The Graduate Diploma in Mining Engineering is designed for professionals already working in the industry, or for people planning a career change. It provides fundamental study in mining engineering and the opportunity for mining engineering graduates and minerals industry professionals to continue their professional development.
Entry requires a 3-year degree in Mining Engineering or a related cognate discipline (3 or 4 years) from a recognised institution, or satisfying the requirements of the UNSW Graduate Certificate in Mining Engineering with a minimum WAM of 65% and no course fails. A credit average is required over the final two years of the degree. A minimum of 1 year relevant industry experience is essential for all applicants with a 3-year degree.
For domestic students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $45,000 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $45,000. For international students, the 2026 indicative first year full fee is $61,000 and the indicative full fee to complete the degree is $62,000. Fees are subject to annual review and may vary accordingly.
Courses in this program may be delivered in either block mode (face-to-face or online) or offered fully online, which means you can balance work and study. The program is available full time or part time, with flexible, targeted modules delivered in short blocks to help you balance study with work and other commitments.
