Students are required to complete three (3) core units (Evidence-Based Practice, Public Health: Philosophy, Principles and Practice, and Epidemiology), one (1) core option unit chosen from a list including Communicable Disease, Ageing Health and Wellbeing, Law and Ethical Issues, and Public Health Planning and Evaluation, and two (2) recommended elective units chosen from a broader list.
Yes, the course can be used as a pathway into the Master of Public Health, helping you to further develop your public health knowledge. Students who are planning to progress to the full Master of Public Health course should choose their two electives from the core options to ensure a more streamlined progression plan.
For domestic students, the estimated 1st year indicative fee is AUD $12,850 (Commonwealth supported). For international students, the estimated 1st year indicative fee is AUD $41,700. Note that at ECU, you pay for the individual units you enrol in, not an overall course fee, so the total cost will vary depending on what units you choose.
Yes, the Graduate Diploma of Public Health is available in both on-campus (Joondalup) and online modes. However, international students are permitted to take a maximum of one unit in online mode for Visa requirements. Most core and core options units run once per year in on-campus and online modes.
English competency requirements (Band 4) may be satisfied through an IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0), a bachelor degree from a country specified on the English Proficiency Bands page, successfully completing 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider, at least five years relevant professional experience, or other tests, courses or programs defined on the English Proficiency Bands page.
