Graduate Diploma of Public Health

The Graduate Diploma of Public Health provides advanced knowledge that prepares health professionals to address public health challenges and improve health and wellbeing. The course emphasises the social determinants of health, equipping graduates to address inequalities affecting the most vulnerable populations around the world, and builds understanding of current global and environmental health issues, health policy, systems and economics, and the social, behavioural and cultural determinants of health. Students develop skills in the planning, implementation and evaluation of public health programs, health promotion and disease prevention strategies, advocacy, statistics and epidemiology, and analytical and communication skills. On completion, graduates can progress their career in public health or continue their studies with the Master of Public Health. Learning outcomes include identifying and analysing the major issues affecting population health, evaluating the effectiveness of policy and management in promoting health and welfare, identifying and describing environmental risk factors affecting the health and safety of a population, demonstrating a commitment to the ethical practice of public health and the principles of access and equity, and applying local and global public health awareness to public health challenges.

This AQF Level 8 course is delivered online and on campus across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and online, over one year full-time or two years part-time.
