There are eight discipline streams available: Aquaculture Science and Technology, Environmental Earth Science, Environmental Management, Fisheries Science and Management, Geology, Marine Biology, and Tropical Biology and Conservation. Students can also choose from a range of elective subjects to complement their training.
The estimated annual Commonwealth Supported fee is AUD $10,150 for a full-time study load, and the estimated annual tuition fee is AUD $36,491 for a full-time study load. These fees are for 2026 and are subject to change in following years. Fee deferral options and scholarships are available if eligible.
Yes, students who complete the Graduate Diploma of Science are eligible for credit towards the Master of Science (Professional) and Master of Science degrees at JCU.
The course is offered at JCU's Townsville and Cairns campuses. Students can commence in January or September at both campuses.
