Applicants from an English-speaking background and/or with sufficient English skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) are exempt from ELICOS.
Exemptions: Applicants who have successfully completed the 11126NAT Advanced Diploma of Sinology Studies, or 11127NAT Advanced Diploma of Buddhist Studies or an approved pathway qualification may be exempt from the above requirements, subject to academic review.

The estimated international student tuition fee for the Graduate Diploma of Sinology Studies is AUD $42,000, excluding non-tuition fees.
Although the course is mainly taught in Mandarin, students need strong English skills, especially for the Sinology/Buddhist Studies-related English unit NAT11128005 Develop and apply complex English skills for Buddhist Studies. Applicants from an English-speaking background and/or with sufficient English skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) are exempt from ELICOS.
The course runs for 105 weeks in total (92 study weeks and 13 break weeks), with a study load of 20 hours per week consisting of lectures, supervised tutorials and projects, and online training/video/blended learning.
Entry requirements include preferably a Bachelor Degree or at least a Year 12 Certificate in Australia or an overseas equivalent qualification; holding the Testamur and Records of Results of 10958NAT Certificate IV in Sinology Studies and 11126NAT Advanced Diploma of Sinology Studies (or attending an online workshop and passing academic and virtue assessments); the ability to recite specified classical texts in Mandarin; and completing ELICOS (unless exempt). Applicants who have successfully completed the 11126NAT Advanced Diploma of Sinology Studies, 11127NAT Advanced Diploma of Buddhist Studies, or an approved pathway qualification may be exempt from these requirements, subject to academic review.
After completing the Graduate Diploma of Sinology Studies (11134NAT), students may progress to the 11128NAT Graduate Diploma of Buddhist Studies (佛學研究生文憑(八級)).
