Common Questions
You will study topics including how the media can help to resolve conflict, the challenges of transforming conflict and building peace and reconciliation after mass violence, and the role of human rights and the United Nations in maintaining international peace and security. The course focuses on developing both theoretical understanding and practical skills applicable to the field of peace and conflict studies.
You will complete 3 core units, 3 selective units in the Peace and Conflict stream, and 2 elective units. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a Model UN and other experiential learning activities as part of the coursework program.
Applications for Semester 1 close on 31 January of the commencing year, and applications for Semester 2 close on 15 July of the commencing year. Separate deadlines apply for scholarship applications.
The program features world-renowned peace journalist, novelist and former BBC World News presenter Associate Professor Jake Lynch, leading trauma and transitional justice scholar Dr Wendy Lambourne, and genocide studies scholar Dr Eyal Mayroz.
You can submit an application through the University of Sydney's online portal. Applications are accepted for both Semester 1 (closing 31 January) and Semester 2 (closing 15 July) of the commencing year.
