Common Questions
The Graduate Diploma of Teaching is not accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), but it offers articulation into a NESA-approved Master of Teaching to enable full eligibility for registration as a teacher once complete. In New South Wales, at the completion of the Graduate Diploma in Teaching, students MUST be enrolled in a nationally accredited Master of Teaching course, such as the Southern Cross University Master of Teaching, to be eligible for NSW conditional accreditation.
The Graduate Diploma of Teaching consists of 45 days of professional placement within an Australian primary or secondary school. Pre-requisites to meet national and state-based regulatory requirements, including a Working with Children Check, must be met prior to attending professional experience placement. Note that online GradDipTeach students who live in NSW are not permitted to undertake placements in NSW government schools, and those residing in the ACT cannot undertake placements in either government or non-government schools in the ACT.
Graduates of the Graduate Diploma of Teaching receive eight units of credit towards the Southern Cross University Master of Teaching.
Students can choose a specialisation in either Primary Education or Secondary Education. For the Primary specialisation, applicants must also demonstrate NSW Band 4 in Mathematics or equivalent, in addition to holding a Bachelor degree or equivalent as per AITSL Program Standard 3.7.
International students at the Gold Coast or Perth campus pay $26,000 per year (based on completing 8 units per year), which equates to $3,250 per unit. Tuition fees are in Australian dollars and are subject to change, including annual increases over the duration of the course. In addition, international students are required to pay Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their visa in advance.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
