Common Questions
For Direct Entry students, the total duration is 104 weeks (8 terms), comprising 80 study weeks and 24 weeks of term break. For students taking the Advanced Standing Pathway (having completed the SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management), the total duration is 26 weeks (2 terms), comprising 20 study weeks and 6 weeks of term break.
Applicants must have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least 5.5 or equivalent. If a learner does not have current proof of an English Language Test result, they will be required to take a KCBT English Placement Test. Those students who do not meet the minimum English requirement will need to package this program with an English Course before proceeding to this qualification.
The course is delivered through face-to-face classroom-based structured learning, practical training and assessment in KCBT's designated Kitchen (THE KITCHEN Balcatta - 2 Cressall Rd, Balcatta WA 6021), and e-learning (not more than 33% of the course). Learners are required to bring their own laptop device (BYOD – bring your own device). KCBT will provide a kitchen uniform and tool kit. Learners are expected to make their own travel arrangements to and from the Kitchen to attend practical classes.
To attain a SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management, thirty-three (33) units must be achieved: 14 core units and 19 elective units. Learners enrolled in the Advanced Standing Pathway will receive credit transfer for the units completed in SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management.
Employment opportunities resulting from the completion of this course may include roles such as Area Manager, Operations Manager, and Motel Manager. After achieving the SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management, individuals could also progress to a bachelor's degree or higher education qualifications in management, and may be able to receive credit transfers for some units of competency.
