Domestic applications open on 1 April of the year prior to commencement and close on 31 January of the commencing year. International applications close on 1 December of the year prior to commencement. Note that applications may close early if the course reaches capacity, so applying as early as possible is strongly encouraged.

Both Domestic and International applicants must apply directly through the University of Sydney's online application portal. Separate deadlines apply for scholarship applications, so prospective students should check the scholarship closing dates separately.

The program develops your cultural competency to engage with clients and colleagues from diverse cultural traditions including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, your legal research technological proficiency including statutory interpretation and generative AI, and your abilities to collaborate ethically and empathetically with your professional peers.

The Juris Doctor program prepares students to embark on careers in the legal profession and professional careers more broadly, equipping graduates with the skills needed to navigate the complexities of the contemporary legal landscape.
