About This Course

The Master of Advanced Social Work (Research) combines coursework with extensive independent research in social work, encouraging an advanced practice-oriented and theoretical approach and self-directed, lifelong learning. Students complete a 30,000-word thesis plus two coursework subjects. To be eligible for the award, students must achieve an average grade of at least H3 (65%) or higher. General Requirements

Domestic and international: a qualifying Australian Bachelor of Social Work (or equivalent) completed within the last ten years with a grade point average of 75% or above; eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; and two years of documented professional social work practice. Selection also considers performance at interview, understanding of the proposed research question, motivation and capacity to complete the course in a timely manner, relevant prior research/professional experience, and referee reports. Applicants must satisfy the University's Graduate English language requirements.
