Common Questions
Students can choose from three specialisations: Agricultural Business Management (build on your previous experience to develop a critical understanding of the agricultural supply chain through independent research and analysis), Digital Agriculture (develop your proficiency in emerging agricultural technologies, including global positioning systems, remote sensing, information technology and database management systems), and Sustainable Agriculture (shape the future of agriculture by developing your expertise in the natural resources, and human and economic factors affecting agricultural sustainability). Students can also complete a standard Master course without a specialisation by selecting additional restricted elective subjects.
Students can get master's qualified in as little as one and a half years. There is also the option for accelerated completion — you can contact the university to learn more. The course totals 96 credit points and is an AQF Level 9 qualification.
The Master of Agriculture is offered both on campus and online. Session 1 (starting 2 March 2026) is available on campus and online at Wagga Wagga. Session 2 (starting 13 July 2026) is available online only. Flexible online study options allow you to personalise your study to suit your needs.
Graduates can pursue a range of leadership roles in agriculture, including agribusiness manager, agricultural consultant, agricultural extension officer, Landcare officer, and precision extension officer. You could also move into advisory, policy or advocacy roles, and work in catchment management, agricultural education and training, executive management, rural counselling, agricultural consultancy, agricultural finance and natural resource management. Charles Sturt is #1 in Australia for agriculture postgrads who get jobs, with 94% of graduates getting full-time jobs within 4 months of graduating (Good Universities Guide 2025/26).
For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, intensive schools, or examinations. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. You may also need to attend an online or on-campus intensive school for certain subjects, which usually involve lectures, tutorials and practicals.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
