Common Questions
The Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence (Professional) extends the Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence by providing you with the opportunity to undertake industry-based learning or engage in an in-depth research project under the supervision of internationally recognised research staff. This is represented in Part D of the course structure, which consists of 4 credit points of professional studies units including options for team projects, professional practice, or a research project.
To complete the Master of Applied Artificial Intelligence (Professional), you must pass 8, 12 or 16 credit points depending on your entry point or recognition of prior learning. A full 16-credit point program includes: Part A (4 credit points of Fundamental AI core units), Part B (4 credit points of Mastery AI core units), Part C (4 credit points of specialisation or course elective units), and Part D (4 credit points of professional studies units). As a full-time student you will study four credit points per trimester and usually undertake two trimesters per year.
To meet the English language proficiency requirements, you will need to demonstrate at least one of the following: a bachelor degree from a recognised English-speaking country, an IELTS overall score of 6.5 (with no band score less than 6.0) or equivalent, or other evidence of English language proficiency.
The estimated tuition fee for a full-fee paying place is $34,400 for 1 year full-time. For students in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), the estimated tuition fee is $8,937 for 1 year full-time. These figures are provided as a guide only and represent typical tuition fees for students completing the course within the same year they started. The actual cost will vary depending on the units you choose, your study load, the length of your course, and any approved Recognition of Prior Learning.
The course is available across three intakes: Trimester 1 starting in March, Trimester 2 starting in July, and Trimester 3 starting in November. All three intakes are available at both Waurn Ponds (Geelong) and Online. Direct applications to Deakin for Trimester 2 2026 close 21 June 2026, and for Trimester 3 2026 close 18 October 2026.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
