Master of Applied Econometrics

Minimum Entry Requirements (International students), 2 entry-point structure (Note: Entry Level 2 full-time is restricted to Semester 1 commencement only, not available mid-year): Entry level 1 (72 points, 1.5 years full-time/3 years part-time) — an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) with at least high credit (65%) average or equivalent GPA in a STEM or business area including a 1st-year statistics or mathematics unit or equivalent. Entry level 2 (48 points, 1 year full-time/2 years part-time) — an Australian bachelor degree with at least high credit (65%) average in a STEM or business area including an advanced econometrics/statistics unit, plus an Australian graduate certificate/honours degree; OR the same bachelor degree plus two years relevant professional experience. Applicants who have completed relevant discipline units may be exempted from advanced preparatory units. English entry requirements (Level A): IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall (Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0, Speaking 6.0) or PTE (Academic) 58 overall (Listening 50, Reading 50, Speaking 50, Writing 50) or TOEFL iBT 79 overall.

Graduates gain econometric techniques and research experience to undertake major applied econometric projects across empirical economics and finance, risk analysis, forecasting, health economics, energy and climate change, specialising in Macro and financial econometrics, Micro and health econometrics, or Data analytics for energy and climate. The coursework and research components equip graduates for careers as econometricians, quantitative analysts, economic forecasters and data analysts in government, finance and industry, and high-performing students can use the program as a pathway to a subsequent PhD program.
