About This Course

The Master of Applied Psychology (MAP) is a post-graduate program designed for psychology graduates who seek to apply high-level psychological principles to solve complex challenges in the commercial, public, and social sectors. This 1.5-year (full-time) program bridges the gap between psychological theory and practical application, equipping you with a sophisticated toolkit to influence behaviour, drive innovation, and inform evidence-based decision-making. The program is based in the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, but students will also complete subjects from the Faculty of Business and Economics and the School of Population and Global Health, giving a truly interdisciplinary experience. You will develop mastery in social psychology, the science of persuasion, consumer behaviour, and advanced data analytics. Please note that the Master of Applied Psychology is designed to provide practical skills for various industries and does not lead to professional registration as a psychologist.

The MAP is primarily designed for students with a three-year undergraduate major in psychology.
Applicants who have completed a fourth-year honours program or a previous master's degree in psychology may be eligible for Advanced Standing (Recognition of Prior Learning), potentially reducing the total duration of the program.
