Common Questions
You must have completed an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited four-year undergraduate sequence in psychology, comprising a three-year major in psychology as part of an undergraduate degree plus a fourth year Honours specialisation (or equivalent) in psychology. This qualification should be completed within the last 10 years, with a minimum average of at least 75 in the fourth-year sequence.
This course is a full-fee course (not government subsidised), with indicative fees of AU$34,500 per year for a full-time student. In addition to tuition fees, students will also need to pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
Over three practicum units, you will participate in a range of fieldwork placements, including the opportunity to apply for a placement at the Orygen outpost specialising in youth mental health. At the VU Psychology Clinic, you will provide psychological services under close supervision to a culturally diverse community seeking support for a range of mental health issues. You will also have opportunities to practise both face-to-face and using telehealth, and to facilitate group psychotherapy programs.
No. Deferring your commencement is not possible because of the competitive nature of this course and the limited number of places available. If you are unable to start in the intake that you have been offered, you will need to reapply for the next available intake.
After graduating, you can apply for two years of supervised practice in clinical psychology through the 'registrar program', after which you will become eligible to apply for endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA). Graduates go on to work in private, public and non-profit mental health services, hospitals and interprofessional settings, youth mental health and school settings, rehabilitation and disability services, policy and advocacy, research and evaluation, and child protection and forensic services. Graduates also qualify for registration as a psychologist in Victoria and membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
