It's structured specifically for health professionals who want to incorporate acupuncture into their treatment approach. The Master of Applied Science (Acupuncture) incorporates Western medicine diagnosis with Chinese medicine theory. A strong focus on evidence-based medicine is combined with the philosophical and cultural aspects of traditional Chinese medicine. Extensive clinical observation and practice is part of the degree, with students having access to RMIT’s Health Sciences Clinic and Chinese medicine hospitals overseas. You will need to check the immunisation requirements of the placement organisation before commencing your placements. A full course of some immunisation requirements can take up to 7 months. It is essential to confirm these requirements with the STEM College WIL Team as soon as possible. While it is no longer a requirement for students to have Covid-19 vaccinations to undertake placements in the RMIT Health Clinic, if you have had these vaccinations you are encouraged to provide evidence of these when requested. If you have not had the vaccinations, you will be asked to make a formal declaration, acknowledging that this limits your external placement experience. Compliance requirements Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check You must present evidence of a successful Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check prior to undertaking the clinical components of this course. Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks are conducted via fit2work . An account with fit2work will be created using your name and RMIT-issued student email address once you have commenced your studies. Working with Children Check You must hold a Victorian Working with Children Check valid for 5 years, prior to undertaking clinical components as part of this course. Yes. For postgraduate coursework degrees, you can meet the English language requirements through satisfactory completion of 2 undergraduate level courses equivalent to at least 24 RMIT University credit points, or satisfactory completion of an AQF accredited award at certificate IV or above (or equivalent), provided the teaching and assessment was entirely in English.
For entry into postgraduate coursework degrees at RMIT, including the Master of Applied Science (Acupuncture), you need a VCE study score of at least 30 in Units 3 & 4 English as an Additional Language (EAL), or at least 25 in Units 3 & 4 English, Literature or English Language.
