Common Questions
Yes. Australian Citizens and holders of a New Zealand Special Category Visa or permanent humanitarian visa may be eligible for FEE-HELP, an Australian Government loan scheme that can be used to pay all or part of the tuition fees. FEE-HELP is not available for international students, who pay tuition fees up-front on a per-trimester basis. International students are not required to pay more than 50% of the tuition fees before the course starts. Scholarships are also available for eligible participants, including the Graduate Scholarship Program for all graduates of undergraduate courses at Photography Studies College.
Yes. While applicants should normally possess a Bachelor with Honours or Bachelor Degree qualification or equivalent, applicants without formal qualifications but with significant experiential learning/professional experience are also encouraged to apply. A formal Recognition of Prior Learning application may be necessary to assess the applicant's academic and professional standing and ability to undertake studies at this level. During your Master of Arts Photography, you will be mentored by leaders in the field, covering a broad spectrum of practices and professional outcomes. Current and recent mentors include Jesse Marlow, Noémie Goudal, Juan Brenner, Max Pinckers, Kazuma Obara, Jan Rosseel, Melinda Gibson, Joanna Piotrowska, Anthony Luvera, Bruno Ceschel, Matthieu Asselin, and Jack Latham.
The tuition fee is $15,900.00 per Semester/Unit of Study. The course is delivered over 3 semesters: Semester 1 totals $15,900.00 (units MA001 and MA002), Semester 2 totals $15,900.00 (units MA003 and MA004), and Semester 3 totals $15,900.00 (unit MA005 — Advanced Independent Practice), bringing the total tuition cost to $47,700.00. An enrolment administration fee of $1,000 AUD (one-off) is also required upon enrolment.
The Master of Arts Photography program is designed to launch your career on the national and international stage. It will equip you to move into higher level professional roles in photography, multimedia, visual journalism, photographic publishing and/or curatorial and project management. It can also provide you with the necessary qualification to pursue a career in academia and teaching photography and other related creative industries. As a student, you will join a network of international photographers, photographic academics, publishers, curators, festival directors and writers.
