Yes, the course includes a supervised practicum (TSL718). King's Own Institute works closely with other language teaching providers in Sydney to organise practicum placements, access current industry trends, resources and expertise in teaching methodology, and to identify resources and trends in the field.
To be permitted to enrol in this course, students must have completed a Bachelor degree (AQF Level 7) or higher. General admission criteria also apply to the course.
Students have exit pathways available at the Graduate Certificate of TESOL, Graduate Diploma of TESOL, and Master of Arts (TESOL) levels, depending on how many subjects they have successfully completed.
Graduates may find employment locally or overseas teaching English as a second or foreign language or working in leadership positions in language teaching institutions, including TAFE, university language centres, private language schools and language teaching institutions for migrants. Specific roles include Associate Lecturer (Linguistics/TESOL), TESOL Trainer/Educator, English/ESL/EFL/TESOL Teacher, ELICOS Director of Studies, internationally recognised English language test Assessor, TESOL Course Developer, TESOL Assessment Designer and TESOL Consultant.
