The duration depends on your previous qualifications and professional experience. You can complete the degree in 1 year full-time (8 credit points, with 8 credit points of admission credit), 1.5 years full-time (12 credit points, with 4 credit points of admission credit), or 2 years full-time (16 credit points, without admission credit). You may also be able to study in the optional third trimester to fast-track your degree.
The course is available online and at Burwood (Melbourne), with intakes in Trimester 1 (March) and Trimester 2 (July). Please note that the next available Burwood (Melbourne) intake will be for 2027; online study is available at both intakes immediately.
The thesis project is a highlight of the course and pairs you with one of Deakin's academic staff. Your thesis might provide commentary on a classic piece of literature, or it could be an original piece of work. The course team will find you the ideal mentor based on your goals, interests and the writing you're working on. Academic staff are published authors and leading international scholars who can draw upon their extensive network of writers, editors and publishers.
The estimated tuition fee for a full-fee paying place is $27,800 for 1 year full-time. The 'Estimated tuition fee' is provided as a guide only and represents the typical first-year tuition fees; the cost will vary depending on the units you choose and your study load.

Honestly I was lost when I first started looking at Australian colleges. There are just too many options and every agent gives you different info. A friend told me about FindTheCourses and within a week I had shortlisted 3 programs that actually matched my budget and visa situation. My advisor Sanjay was super helpful — never felt like I was being pushed into anything.
